500 GBP is
fetching the latest rate…

Questions people ask

Where do these exchange rates actually come from?
The European Central Bank's daily reference rates, via the Frankfurter API: a free, open service built specifically on ECB data. Named source, not an unlabeled number.
How current is "latest"?
The ECB publishes one reference rate per currency per business day, around 16:00 CET, not a real-time trading feed. This tool fetches whatever that most recent published rate is, live, every time you load the page.
Can I use this for an actual money transfer or trade?
No. This is the ECB's mid-market reference rate: useful for knowing roughly what your money is worth, not what a bank, card network, or transfer service will actually charge you. Every real transfer adds its own margin and fees on top.
Why only 30 currencies?
That's the full set the ECB publishes reference rates for. Every currency here is a real, major, actively-traded one, not a partial or curated list.
