A real Stage 1 failure, on my own site

"A Cloudflare managed-rules bot-block was silently overriding a permissive robots.txt on my own domain. The site looked completely normal to a human visitor. To GPTBot, ClaudeBot, and PerplexityBot, it didn't exist. Nothing in my analytics said so. I had to read server logs directly to catch it."

That's the exact kind of gap between "what I think is happening" and "what's actually happening" this check exists to close. Read the full story

Questions people ask

What exactly counts as a Stage 1 access issue?
Three layers, checked in order: robots.txt directives (what you're telling crawlers to do), CDN/WAF edge rules like Cloudflare's "Block AI Bots" toggle or managed bot-fighting rules (which can override a permissive robots.txt before it's ever read), and JS-rendering gaps (content that only exists after client-side JavaScript runs, which several AI crawlers don't execute). Most sites have never checked the second one directly.
What happens after I submit this?
I run the check myself and reply directly. Not a queue, not an automated report, not a drip sequence. Within a day, you get an email naming the specific issue I found, or an honest confirmation that access isn't your problem.
What if my site turns out to be fine?
Then I tell you that, plainly, and the check is still worth having run: you now know Stage 1 isn't where to spend attention, instead of guessing.
Why do you ask about budget on a free check?
So the reply I send is actually useful to you, whether that's a quick fix you can hand to a developer yourself, or a heads-up that it's part of a bigger rebuild worth budgeting for. It doesn't change whether you get a reply.
